7.                 What is the basic purpose of staff counselling?

By definition, counseling is the process of helping people to explore and understand personal problems and develop their potentialities.

The aim of counselling is to give employees the proper direction and guidance as regards to their performance evolution/progression and level.  It can be also to help employees with potential as regards to their future career.

Basic purposes of counselling are to:
·                    Give advice to an employee concerning work-related problems.
·                    Help an employee to have a new confidence and encouragement.
·                    Facilitate a two way of communication.
·                    Encourage a change in the employee's performance, values and behaviour if especially it is a problem     concerning a work related nature.
·                    improve relationship between employer and employee through a flow of information.
